You, My Dear Mom, are the Wind Beneath my Wings #FridayReflections

You are the reason that I dare believe in my dreams. With you flying by my side, I know that I can pursue my each desire. Your approval means the world to me and receiving your appreciation keeps me soaring high. The moment I think of walking a new path, I seek your hands to hold because I know that no harm can affect me as long as you’re around. Only you have the power to show me the error of my ways. I may not agree with you at the time — mostly due to my stubborn self — but in the heart of my heart, I know that you are right. Your wisdom is way beyond my comprehension. You know when to let me learn from my own mistakes and when to stop me from making one. From you, I’ve learned that one cannot control every move of a loved one and that sometimes, one must let go. I know that you do not always like my lifestyle, but I adore you for not holding it against me.

Many poems and stories have been written to depict selfless love of a mother, but I don’t think that any of those come close to describing your love. You have always been doing what the management books are drooling over, now: the effectiveness of leading by example. I don’t remember you lecturing us about the benefits of working hard and respecting our jobs. I saw you putting your heart and soul into your work for as far back as I can see. You are the reason that I value my work, whether I love it or not is a different story altogether. Your vision of our future, me and my sister’s, has always been clear and straightforward: never be a spineless human being. There are moments of doubt that cloud my ability to see beyond the confusing times, and during those times, your simple preachings become my guide.

In my happy moments, I want you to be the first person to share the good news with because my joy quadruples just by listening to your enthusiasm. During sad times, I don’t want anybody else except for you because I know that you wouldn’t judge me for whatever situation I would have gotten myself into. Instead, your encouraging words would take me out of the dark place and into the bright light in an instant.

Mom, I love you for believing in me and loving me. This post is my way of declaring my adoration for you and saluting you in front of the entire world. Without your support, dear mom, my soul wouldn’t have dared to fly. You are the wind beneath my wings, my sweetheart mom ❀

  2. Lovely thoughts and words about your Mum. On Sunday it will be 30 years since I lost my darling Mum and I still miss being able to share things with her. #FridayReflections.

    1. I shiver at the thought of losing my mom. I can’t even begin to imagine how much you must miss her, every day. When my mom lost her mom, she was inconsolable. She shares with us that even in a room full of people, she misses the presence of her mom 😦

  3. Such beauty and love in your words! Mothers’ love is always beyond what words can describe, and yet I can say you have come very close to it. Beautiful. Very. πŸ™‚

  4. I love your wonderful post about your mum, I imagine how amazing it must be to be on the receiving end of this. With teenage boys at the moment I can’t imagine them writing anything this beautiful, but I can live in hope!! #FridayReflections

    1. Oh yes! I am amazed at this quality of hers. I am a control freak. When I know that I am right, I would try to shove down my belief down my loved ones’ throats, but my mom knows when to stop. She’ll tell what’s best for me and my sis, then leave the decision up to us. She inspires me to give others some space to breathe.
